I was wondering if you have seen her – the girl who stole the stars.

If you see her, please tell her that I said…

I cannot tell you
whether,
in the end,
I had broken
or fixed
myself.

I only know
now
that I am not
what I was
before,

and I cannot say
why.

 

 

Like fools, we tried to fill
the holes in our souls
with whiskey and
knock-knock jokes.

Wouldn’t you know,
it almost worked!

I mean, it didn't.

But we had a couple of laughs
at least.

 

This is a little note
to tell you that
I am still
turning myself in
for crimes I didn't commit

so sure that one day
they will haul me out
to the applause
of machine guns.
